The History & Mission of RJ Recycling
We started RJ Recycling back in 2003 and currently operate two distinct and strategically located processing facilities in Parkersburg and Nitro, WV. Since opening their doors, both scrap metal recycling yards source ferrous and nonferrous scrap metals from a wide variety of suppliers including local industrial accounts, scrap dealers, peddlers, and demolition projects.
As an organization committed to quality on both sides of the product delivery chain, supplier and customer relationships are our company’s true strength. With qualified and experienced managers, commercial buyers, and staff members, our team at RJ Recycling is dedicated to providing outstanding service, fair pricing, and high quality scrap metal processing standards. We are also tirelessly committed to the operational integrity of our business and constantly identify means of upgrading and expanding the capabilities of our equipment.
Our Suppliers & Customers
Scrap Metal Suppliers
As a full-service scrap metal recycling company, we purchase ferrous and nonferrous scrap material from a wide variety of suppliers that include large industrial manufacturers, commercial businesses, local scrap dealers, as well as the general public. The relationship that we hold with each of our suppliers is something that we take very seriously. Committed to superior service and quality, we are dedicated to making sure that every transaction is handled professionally, weighed accurately with state-certified scales, and sold at a price that fairly reflects current market conditions.
For more information about selling your industrial or commercial scrap metal, please contact our commercial buyers.
Individuals who need more information about selling scrap metal may contact the RJ Recycling processing facility closest to their home.
Scrap Metal Customers
Through truck, rail, and barge, our team at RJ Recycling directly sells the scrap metal we process to steel mills primarily in West Virginia (but also in some surrounding states). Through the relationships we maintain with metal brokers, our scrap is also sourced to mills throughout the eastern United States, as well as abroad.
We take pride in the quality of the product we deliver our customers, knowing that it will be used as a critical resource for the manufacture of new products and materials.
Social & Environmental Responsibility is Paramount
Prioritizing Employee Safety
Workplace safety ranks high among our goals. Knowing that our employees are our most critical asset, we work hard to comply with all Occupational Safety and Health Administration and Environmental Protection Agency guidelines to keep each and every one of them safe while at work.
Preventing Metal Theft
As a member of the scrap recycling industry, RJ Recycling fully recognizes and upholds its responsibility toward metal theft prevention. We will never knowingly purchase, process or sell stolen material at any of our processing facilities.
With employee training programs and sales processing procedures in place, we proactively evaluate the legitimacy of every retail transaction. We also maintain a commitment to the strong working relationships we have built with area law enforcement officials to help put metal thieves in their place.
- We I.D. We photocopy consumer drivers’ licenses and track vehicle identification numbers.
- We train our employees to recognize signs of metal theft.
- We have anti-theft transaction policies and procedures in place.
- We work proactively with area law enforcement providers through participation in the LeadsOnline program.
- We are a member of the Scrap Theft Alert System.
Protecting Our Environment
Our business, at its very core, fundamentally focuses on the betterment of communities throughout West Virginia. As a green industry that generates new life for old metal, scrap recycling helps the environment and area communities by preventing salvage from being buried in local landfills or scattered among the hills, hollows and streams of our beautiful state.
RJ Recycling also exercises responsible environmental care through active involvement in the National Vehicle Mercury Switch Recovery Program (NVMSRP) and End of Life Vehicle Solutions (ELVS).
The importance of managing the environmental impact of our operations is also strongly recognized, and we are committed toward continually improving each of our facilities through ongoing investment.
Supporting Our Communities
RJ Recycling works with West Virginia communities and organizations throughout the year by hosting clean-up and metal recycling days. For more information about hosting a metal recycling day in your community, please contact Roland Fisher at 304-727-8251.
